Not a million hours away from Denver, Colorado.

Most of these spots require some walking or climbing over rocks. It’s always a good idea to bring comfortable shoes to start off in, then you can change into heels or sandals!

OFFICERS GULCH - Frisco, Colorado

the details:

Officers Gulch is seriously awesome. Its right off I-70, near Frisco.  It features a large lake, some aspens, mountain views, tall grasses, large rocks, wide landscapes, easy parking lot, but no bathroom.

when to go:

Gorgeous in all seasons, but in the fall the leaves changing is stunning.  One of the last places to change, so later fall (after Kenosha Pass, etc).

SAPPHIRE POINT - Breckenridge, Colorado

THE DETAILS:

Insane views of Dillon Lake.  It features an easy trail, mountain + lake views, wide landscapes, rocks, easy parking lot, bathroom. Outfit change? Change in car or in nature or bathroom at start of trail.

WHEN TO GO:

Summer or spring. No Aspens, mostly pine. Maybe even winter if the roads are good!

LOVELAND PASS - Loveland Ski Area, Colorado

when to go:

Summer or Fall is best. No aspens for the fall, but great fall colors with the shrubs.

STAUNTON STATE PARK - Pine, Colorado

when to go:

Spring/Summer/Fall are best. Leaves changed after Kenosha.

Cool spot along Hwy 285.  It features multiple easy trails, mountain views, aspens, possible wildflowers in the spring, large rock wall, wide landscapes, easy parking lot, port-a-potty bathroom.

State parks require Permit and Day Parking Pass.

GOLDEN GATE CANYON STATE PARK-Golden,Colorado

when to go:

Fall is best, with summer a close second.  Stayed golden for a long time. After Kenosha, and one of the last to die out.

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN - Golden, Colorado

when to go:

Spring/Summer are best. Turns pretty brown in the fall.  Winter could be cool too!

NORTH TABLE MOUNTAIN - Golden, Colorado

when to go:

Spring + Summer are the best seasons. No Aspens, looks like Mars up top with shrubs and dessert-like terrain.

THE PAINT MINES, Calhan CO

when to go:

Spring + Summer are the best seasons. No Aspens (or any kind of tree really!), so the season doesn’t really matter. It’s a long drive to get there (about thirty-five miles northeast of Colorado Springs) with very little cell service in the area, so we’ll definitely car pool.


We can decide on a meeting spot in Denver.

when to go:

All seasons work at this spot. Summer + Fall are the best seasons, with the least muddy trails. but Winter + Spring are pretty as well.
