OFFICERS GULCH - Frisco, Colorado

Officers Gulch is seriously awesome. Its right off I-70, near Frisco. It features a large lake, some aspens, mountain views, tall grasses, large rocks, wide landscapes, easy parking lot, but no bathroom.

when to go:
Gorgeous in all seasons, but in the fall the leaves changing is stunning. One of the last places to change, so later fall (after Kenosha Pass, etc).

SAPPHIRE POINT - Breckenridge, Colorado

Insane views of Dillon Lake. It features an easy trail, mountain + lake views, wide landscapes, rocks, easy parking lot, bathroom. Outfit change? Change in car or in nature or bathroom at start of trail.

Summer or spring. No Aspens, mostly pine. Maybe even winter if the roads are good!

LOVELAND PASS - Loveland Ski Area, Colorado
when to go:
Summer or Fall is best. No aspens for the fall, but great fall colors with the shrubs.

Blue Lakes Trailhead - Breckenridge, Colorado

Insanely gorgeous spot along Hwy 9. It features multiple easy trails (and some not so easy!), 360 mountain views, lakes, a waterfall, large rock wall, wide landscapes, easy parking lot.

when to go:
This spot could be cool in all seasons, but the road up to the trailhead could be dicey in the winter. Spring/Summer/Fall are best.

STAUNTON STATE PARK - Pine, Colorado
when to go:
Spring/Summer/Fall are best. Leaves changed after Kenosha.

when to go:
Fall is best, with summer a close second. Stayed golden for a long time. After Kenosha, and one of the last to die out.

Spring + Summer are the best seasons. No Aspens, looks like Mars up top with shrubs and dessert-like terrain.

when to go:
Spring + Summer are the best seasons. No Aspens (or any kind of tree really!), so the season doesn’t really matter. It’s a long drive to get there (about thirty-five miles northeast of Colorado Springs) with very little cell service in the area, so we’ll definitely car pool.
We can decide on a meeting spot in Denver.
